An opportunity for growth among friends
The Scouts are in charge at Sierra Madre Troop 373. The Scout Master sets limits, but the Scouts are in charge.
We are focused on developing leadership skills in boys. This mission is incredibly important and Sierra Madre Troop 373 takes it seriously.
Once you’ve seen a boy transform from a Scout among friends into a young leader you’ll share our dedication. After all, to gain leadership skills as boy in a safe environment is far superior to learning on the job, graduate school or in the service.
Leadership Sets an Example
Scout Master Deveau has been in Scouting for over 50 years. He is an Eagle Scout and his five sons have become Eagle Scouts. Professionally he is charge of occupational safety for a major chain of grocery stores. Without a doubt, he has a well honed eye for appropriate behavior and deep experience with delegation and follow up.
Troop 373 is on the move. During the school year we camp every 6 weeks or so but in the summer, we take a long trip.
During the school year, Troop meetings are held on most Mondays at 7pm in the Old North Church.
Parents are always welcome at Troop meetings and camping trips. In fact we encourage it. However, please remember, the Scouts are in charge.
We understand that boys have multiple interests and time commitments. Not every Scout wants to become an Eagle Scout. Your family can help him choose his level of commitment. He can earn the merit badges and go camping. And maybe most importantly, your son can be a friend amongst friends.
